Window Painting
One of the most difficult things for me was finding how to turn a
buck with my drawing pencil but here was one that was right in front of my face. Actually it was in front
of the office. What I'm talking about is the office window.
Have you ever driven through the city? And how many office buildings were there?
And how many of them had some kind of painting on the window- often a seasonal painting or promotional
painting? Everywhere I have ever lived people use their windows as message boards – including the good 'ol
“Wash me”. This inner drive for window vandalism is your chance to turn a buck.
Window painting can be lucrative. Often seasonal work, it won't employ you full
time, but remember that I said you should find more than 1 income source.
The people who are willing to allow you to paint their windows often will ask you
to come back – or at least will get their windows painted again.
3 Things to help you with Window painting:
1) I suggest having some mock ups (examples) prepared ahead of time. This allows
the client to see what you can do and it gives them more ideas.
2) I have also found it handy to use price levels. Price levels are a good
way to help prospective clients find a price range they can afford which can increase your prospective sales or
can increase how much you sale to a particular client.
3) Do a little research on Window Painint online and you will easily find great
tips to help you out, like drawing your designs on butcher paper as a template, refering to greeting cards for
ideas, and using Tempra paints.
If you don't have a portfolio of window paintings for every season, you should
consider starting one.
