Principles of Drawing 1 (POD1)
Principles of Drawing is a 3 part course designed to teach you how to draw. Many
tutorials show you how to draw some thing however this course will teach you how to draw by
teaching you the principles behind drawing and how to apply them. By mastering these principles you will
be able to draw anything you see or imagine. Part 1 goes through the initial phases of concept and
foundation to finished line drawing.
Principles of Drawing 2 (POD2)
To take this class you must have completed POD1. Building upon the skills developed
in POD1, this course goes in depth into perspective concepts. Perspective is knowing how to draw things
in relation to one another and is a critical part of drawing, painting, and any visual art form.
Principles of Drawing 3 (POD3)
To take this course you must have completed POD2. Building upon the skills developed in
POD1 and POD2, this course goes in depth into tones, shading, and lighting concepts. Understanding and
applying lighting concepts is a nescessary component to drawing well. Proper lighting concepts bring
believability to your artwork, wether your work is realistic or cartoonish in nature. This class completes
the 3 part Principles of Drawing course.
Cartooning & Comic Strip Art
Drawing is a skill—and like any other it can be taught. This is a hands on class dedicated to learning how to
become a better cartoonist and comic strip artist. Cartooning is a great hobby that can also lead to a career in
many art fields including illustration, comic strips, caricatures, and animation. In this class we discuss basic
cartooning concepts, caricatures, and creating your own comic strips. If you want to pursue a career in art, amaze
your friends with your latest masterpiece, or just want to draw better—this is a great place to start!
Manga Mangaka
This class will cover the Japanese comic book style called Manga. It will
include a slight history of Manga, understanding the basics of characteristics and the artistic design of
Manga, ultimately finishing with designing your individual Manga comic, style, and character(s). The
class will be in black and white due to time constraints, and fitting with traditional Manga style.
